It's confirmed, and a HUGE upset.
Also, Mike Keegan looks like an idiot now. For those that don't know, he wrote an article about how "warm-up" games are bad for lacrosse, and cited the UVA vs Drexel game as one of his specific examples.

Wonder when did UVA lose its first game of the season at home?
That game was played at UVA.

well here is a link to the info on the field

it says it is their field hockey field but with all the lines on it makes me think that its also a general practice field.... old school artificial turf is the preferred playing surface for D1 fieldhockey

its on page 7

I interviewed for a job there a couple of years ago, and surmise that with the weather, and the amount of use that Klockner gets (Men's and Women's Soccer and Lacrosse) that they chose to play at UHall to protect the playing surface.
What amazes me is from the write up at UVA's website Drexel scored twice in the final 10 seconds to win. Unreal!

Drexel's late surge stuns top-ranked Virginia
February 18, 2007
Charlottesville, VA - Drexel freshman Colin Ambler scored his only two goals of the game in the final 10 seconds to lift the Dragons to an 11-10 win over top-ranked Virginia in the season opener for both teams this afternoon at the UHall Turf Field.
The loss snapped UVa's 19-game home winning streak and was Drexel's first victory ever against Virginia. The loss is also UVa's first in the season opener in seven years.
Drexel outscored Virginia 8-4 in the second half, including scoring four of the game's final five goals, to rally from a three-goal deficit to gain the win.
Virginia's Ben Rubeor scored his fourth goal of the game on an extra-man situation early in the fourth quarter to give the Cavaliers a 9-7 lead. Rubeor paced the Cavalier offense with four goals and four assists.
Drexel won the ensuing faceoff and scored a man down goal as Kevin Dart raced past several UVa defenders and fired a shot past goalie Kip Turner to draw the Dragons within 9-8.
Freshman Greg Casey tied the game at 9-all with his second goal of the contest with 10:20 remaining.
Danny Glading scored with 6:43 remaining as Virginia regained the lead at 10-9. Glading finished with two goals and an assist.
Holding a one-goal advantage in the final minute, Virginia midfielder Steve Giannone hit the pipe with less than 30 seconds to play. Drexel defenseman Adam Crystal picked up the ground ball and Drexel called timeout with 16 seconds to play.
Coming out of the timeout, Ambler got free on the left side and took a pass from Andrew Chapman and quickly rifled a shot past Turner to tie the score with 10 seconds remaining.
Zak Fisher won the ensuing faceoff for Drexel and found Ambler on the left side for the game winner with three seconds remaining.
The Dragons took just 24 shots, while Virginia managed 46. They also won 13 of 22 faceoffs, including four of five in the fourth quarter.
Goalie Bruce Bickford, who made 22 saves against UVa last year, finished with 17 saves.
The Cavaliers travel to Long Island next Saturday for a match-up against Stony Brook. Drexel stays on the road with a contest at Lehigh.

Curious to see if Denver is legit this year...the knock on them in the past had been they could only win at home, at altitude. They opened with a 10-5 win AT Penn State. Next weekend should be very interesting at UNC and at Duke.
