Chili Peppers (not a literal band!)

Thought your day would start with a spicy topic----

Chili peppers spicing up meals for 6,100 years

I read that article this morning and my attitude was, "So...." There were several archeologists apparently trying to "prove" that chili peppers do exist. They also explained that chili peppers were in the Americas (North, Central and South). Hmm... one would assume that chili peppers have been around for many, many, many years. Was the archaeology work necessary and worth it?
