Interesting article analyzing the impact of fighting in the NHL.

Im personally all for fighting in the NHL. Especially when it brings such classic duels like Darren McCarty of the Red Wings taking on Claude "The Turtle" Lemieux of the Avs.

First of all, great callback on one of the best rivalries in sports for a couple years there. But, I love when Wings fans bring up Claude Lemieux. During that series, the Wings dished out just as many or more dirty and underhanded hits than he ever did (remember Kamensky choking on his own tongue after having his head slammed into the boards?). Lemieux crushes Draper (a dirty cheat in his own way for even putting on that red sweater - I love hockey) and he's the villain for all time. Any Avs fan can complete this line: Red Wings _______!
Always on point . . .

that is the coolest ever. Nothing bad said, just asked, so hey you want to fight? alright lets do it then... Even wished him good luck.

Its been a part of NHL hockey for a long time, every team has at least one fighter/enforcer. Fight are better solved one on one, being from MN I've been a part of a few bench clearing brawls, but the pros do it the best

I love nothing more than watching a bench clear brawl and seeing the goalies just walk up to each other (fully padded) and just start fighting cause everyone else is. They both know they arent gonna get hurt or hurt the other guy. Its just something better to do than stand and watch other people have fun.

gotta love youtube. offical score: wings-2 roy-0
you can also find a great video of about 4 minutes showing the full version of the first video. cant argue with the wings being ALMOST as dirty as the avs. you can see shanahan jumping roy as hes crossing mid-ice in the first video. but the image of lemieux curling up as he's getting pummeled i will always cherish.
