When I was a wee lad, the Rams used to have camp at UC Irvine. I used to love to go with my pops and watch Eric Dickerson and the boys.
Now instead of training camp it is fall practice for the USC Trojans. Watched a full scrimmage yesterday and everyone better lookout. They are lookin' better than ever!

Why would the Rams train at UCI when they have such a fine facility in St. Louis?

We are now entering our second generation that has not known football in LA.

Yup, I pretty much hate the Rams now. Just my luck, follow a crappy team my whole youth just to have them uproot and win a superbowl. DAMN THE RAMS!

So I spent two days at the 9ers camp. By far the best I have been to. They practice at their own facility located at the end of the San Jose's airport and to the west of Great America theme park. I was not a fan of the 9ers when I flew out on Sunday but I am now. It is quite impressive to walk into their offices and see those five Lombardi Trophies in the case.
If you are a fantasy player, you need to draft Vernon Davis. He is a beast and with Alex Smith adjusting to Norv Turner's new offense, think Jay Novacek. Same system, same safety valve. Frank Gore will be the 9ers RB.
One thign that was interesting is for practice yesterday, the 9ers did not wear their assigned jersey numbers. The RBs for example wore numbers between 50-63. Lineman in single-digits, etc... The only one's wearing their own numbers were the QBs. While our production staff was miffed at first, as a coach I appreciate the move. The PR dept. apologised over and over for this, saying that Coach Nolan does this at least once a training camp. Coincidnece that he did it on the day we were their to shoot? I think not.
Flew through Santa Barbara last night on my way down to LAX. Love that ocean air!
Next stop: Cheney, right outside Spokane, and the Seahawks.

Ok, so earlier this week (Monday & Tuesday) I finished up my tour of NFL training camps with the Seattle Seahawks in bucolic Cheney, WA. The Seahwaks are a fantastic organisation and it was a real pleasure to work with them. Their training camp is held at Eastern Washington University. We actually got to see the college team practice whilst the Seahawks worked out. There were heaps of people that came out to support both teams.
I did get out and about in Spokane or Spokanistan as my crew called it. Gonzaga has a beautiful campus. Where do they play their home games? Next to the McCarthey Centre? The downtown is beautiful and they have a fantastic park, the World's Fair grounds. I recommend The Viking and O'Doherty's.
