Ricky Williams convicted a fourth time..

Ricky was tested positive for an illegal substance yesterday. This is ricky's fourth time for testing positive for a drug... I never would of thought that a man who broke nearly every rushing record in college would become such a wast of talent in the NFL..

Ummm... Ricky has never been "convicted" of anything to my knowledge. He has, however, tested positive three times for marijuana and has reportedly just tested positive a fourth time for an unspecified (as yet) drug infraction.

While I agree that Williams has had a pro career tarnished by substance abuse, I wouldn't go so far as to say he has been a "waste" (wasted, might be more accurate ). He has had some good seasons in the pros, too.

All I can say is it's probably a good thing that there is no drug-testing in the MDIA, cause I fear we'd have alot of repeat offenders among our ranks as well.

WHAT?! I can tell you that no one on my team has even seen a marijuana cigarette. None of us have done the weed.

This reminds me of my second practice ever at Iowa my freshmen year.

For those that played against us around 2000-2002 might remember our big 6'5", 250 pound goalie nicknamed "Craw".



Obviously on the far right but he has dreads down to his knees (circa 1997 possibly).

Anyways, we go into the final huddle before we broke practice and we all look over to see him him rolling something then lighting it.....we all kind of stopped and looked at him. He laughed but then told us it was tobacco, later after knowing him a while, he liked to roll his own cigarettes. Granted, he probably did some of the other stuff on his spare time but he really did roll his own cigarettes.

I guess it was one of those you had to be there to see it then laugh.

I would absolutely describe his career as a waste. A guy with his potential coming out of college a budding superstar to become a player consistently failing drug tests? Leaving the league to go live in a foreign country? Giving up a career that others would give their souls for? Quite a step down, if you ask me.

I know there have been hundreds of flops when making the transition from College to the Pros (a diehard packer fan myself recalls picking tony mandrich over barry sanders.. whoops!), but what fraction of those flops have been the direct fault of the player? If Ricky would drop the THC-love, he'd do great; he's proven he's had some good stats.

Waste of talent?! Thats ignorant. testing positive for marijuana does not imply that he hasn't been solid for the Dolphins most of the time. Lets just remember what being in the NFL does to your life... A lot of physical suffering and Ricky quit that year because he wasnt down with that.

I respectfully disagree. I imagine the NFL is not unlike entering a new job, in a strictly business sense. They've set up rules prohibiting the use of illegal drugs while employed in their organization *Best Buy, for example, does the same thing). What I am trying to say is, I guarantee nobody put a joint in Ricky's mouth and forced him to smoke. It was his own free will to break the rules imposed on him by the NFL, and he therefore is a waste of talent because he couldn't adhere to the previously known specified guidelines. A one time offense, maybe understandable; Four times? I don't think so.

It's sad to see him continually screw up, but the mental health aspects get overlooked. A lot of people choose to self-medicate rather than follow the "accepted" pharmaceutical methods. The guy has some issues and has had some trouble dealing with them.

It may not have been a waste but he is clearly on the wrong path now. It is just sad to see someone with the ability to be in the NFL for a long time not care. Nothing can keep Ricky from his reefer.
