Shaq O' Neal has a new title

It is now Officer Shaq O'Neill. Just read that he became a reserve Miami police officer today at a private, no-frills swearing in ceremony.

He's been an honorary Orange County (Florida) Sherriff since he played with the Magic. He's been pretty into the law enforcement gig for quite a while.

Note to self: Don't buy drugs from Shaq, he is an undercover cop.

so you mean to say now that aside from everything else, he also gets a gun?

Shaq + a firearm = Serious Overkill.

Had to bump this and knowing it will be bumped way down back QUICKLY.

Anyway, I want to quote the "Quote of the day" from my local sports section (Waco Tribune Herald, December 14, 2005):

Quote of the day

Dan Daly of the Washington Times, on Shaquille O'Neal's becoming a reserve police officer: "Shaq will be able to carry a gun... as long as he doesn't shoot it from the free-throw line."

He was also a reserve sheriff in LA and has stated many times that after his NBA days are done (many would say they already have) he wants to be a chief of police or sheriff back in Texas.

I knew that actng in Kaazam would pay off for him in the long run.

Ryan Klesko was also a deputy and in the off-season participated in drug raids whne he was with the Braves. When he got dealt to the Padres, they wrote into his contract the could no longer do this.
