Ok so I'm hearing all sorts of rumors and stories flying around about the BCS being under congressional investigation or something of that nature.
I'm no fan of the BCS but it seems like them being under congressional investigation is a pipe-dream thrown in from somewhere out in left-field to support some overly emphatic blog argument.
What I want to know is, on what grounds are they being investigated? Does congress, in fact, have any authority in doing so?

What I have read from last week's news on the Internet that one of the Congressmen wanting to look into this is Rep. Barton of Texas. He was one of those bringing up the talk about looking into BCS. His name is Joe Barton who represents Ennis; he is a Texas A&M graduate and was born in Waco, Texas.

The basis of Congressman Joe Barton's call for a hearing on the BCS is that it is "deeply flawed."
I will let the article explain itself.

"College football is not just an exhilarating sport, but a billion-dollar business that Congress cannot ignore," said committee Chairman Joe Barton
Phew! For a second there, and I know this sounds foolish, but I was afraid that the claim was simply due to alleged unfairness or things of that nature. Thank god there's at least the slightest hint in legitimacy to this.
Is there some sort of statistic mapping out BCS-related earnings by conference and/or school since the birth of the BCS?

What I would be saying may sound impish, but what would be a good movie title to make fun of BCS? Guess Hollywood would not be too keen on doing that, huh?

How about, "Monty Python and the Fighting Irish" "Ernest Goes to the Rose Bowl" or "BCS: A Space Odyssey"?
