Interesting editorial on the revenue side of the coin in College football and M Basketball:

Very interesting article. Maybe if the pro teams had to pay a fee to the universities for the athletes they recruit more schools could expand their varsity programs. It would also make me feel better about paying for a ticket to see the pro games.

Yep, that idea has some promise. College football and M basketball are basically the minor leagues for both the NFL and NBA...a little "profit sharing" is long overdue. I also think we should explore the endorsement trust fund idea....of course there would need to be some restrictions in order to prevent fraud and abuse. i.e. recruiting a kid based on endorsements.

Very interesting to see the estimates of how much a "big time" student athlete brings to a university.

i like the profit sharing and trust fund ideas. i dont' know what race has to do with it.

i have always thought that football players should have the option of majoring in football. You could apply it to any sport where you have athlete students. Offer an array of personal finance classes, along with x's o's type stuff and stop pumping out communications majors who end up with telemarketing jobs.
