Every player who won their National Championship got one. I believe this was an idea of the local Texas chapter. Don't know who made them, but they were very popular and a fitting momento.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe UCSB originated the national championship belt buckle.

This is true. UCSB had some belt buckles made up after the 2004 championship.

Silver belt buckles. We originated it. I have to admit that I was a little upset when I found out that CSU got belt buckles.
