With all the posing, posturing, whining, complaining, suggesting, and otherwise worthless discussion around the WCLL playoff structure that left UCSB (two time defending USLMDIA champs, did you hear?) out of the Final Four, I think a potentially very important aspect may have been overlooked. They got an extra week of rest, and are now extra hungry. SSU UCSB should be the game of the day. Arizona CSU should also be great, heck so should al the games. I can't wait for morning.

Looks like FSU is struggling with UMD...anyone else think that #6 seed may have been a bit high?

These games dont mean anything. How do you know that FSU isnt playing only thier seconds and UMD isnt. Or maybe FSU just doesnt care any more. These dont matter!!!!

Here we go again. I'm sure there will be another long thread about this one.

Agreed that these games don't matter and no conclusion should be drawn from them. However, one can draw a conclusion about FSU's ranking from the Cal Poly game, which did matter . . .a lot.

C'mon Pete...nobody likes to lose, even when the games really don't matter. Anybody with any competitive drive whatsoever will still want to win.

Of course, nobody likes to lose. It all has to do with the usage of personnel in these games. FSU has already put the backup goalie in the game in the 2nd quarter. Do you really think they'd do that in a game that really mattered?

And whose to say Duluth isn't doing the same thing, although I highly doubt that any team is slacking off in the consolation round especially this year, as there is so much good competition. I think you can take any game as a real game, it's not fall ball. the only time I see that not being true, if it was a CSU, or a Sonoma, etc.. not true with any team that is still looking for recognition. Duluth, FSU, really anyone other than BYU, CSU, and maybe Sonoma or UCSB.

In fact, it has been reported that UMD did put in their backup goalie. That is exactly the point here. Teams approaching these games as meaningful and going all out to win would not be making these moves. That is why these games shouldn't mean much about a team's ranking. There are differing agendas being addressed in these games.

Posturing for next year:) Seriously I agree that for any top 5 team to lose it doesn't mean much, but for any other it does. Especially FSU who is trying to prove they are worth the #6 and Duluth who has been up and down this year.
I would love to see an actual consolation round in which these games mattered more. I know people want to play teams they haven't seen before etc... But in my eyes it would be more fun as a fan to have a consolation champ. I know many players and coaches see it differently.
