Andy is correct. This was originally a budget issue. In fact, US Lacrosse was even asking us very early on if Division B would be interested in doing somehting closer to the women's division, namely playing twice in a day to keep down travel costs.
If Division B thinks they need a day of rest, they should start asking for it for next season. The Division A only just got a rest day a couple of years back.
While I'm at it, it seems there is some confusion about the rest day. To clarify, only winning teams are guaranteed to have Thursday off. There are four Division A consolation games on Thursday, two on Friday. With the sheer number of games a day, it just wasn't possible to schedule all games from both Divisions on Friday, and only play the Division B on Thursday. Teams would have been starting games at 8am, and no coach wanted a consolation game at 8am.
