2006 IA Tournament will be in Dallas
Just got the announcement from US Lacrosse. The 2006 tournament will be May 9-13 in Dallas, Texas. Preliminary round games will be at the Russell Creek Athletic Complex. Semifinals and finals will be at Highlander Stadium at Highland Park HS.

Nice to see that this has been settled. Being unfamiliar with the Dallas area, are these 2 sites near to each other?

I agree with CATLAX that this is definitely good news to hear/read about as US Lacrosse has settled on the championship site. Do look forward to the upcoming announcements especially the layout of the playoff site (I mean pictures). Sonny will have no problems hooking up to high speed connections for his blogging because he would not have to worry about that if it were to be held in Juneau or Anchorage, Alaska.
Hey, just trying to generate discussions and create buzz of excitement among y'all guys.
Of course, first things first... your conference season is the most important...

While I'm happy to see a decision, I'm disappointed that Blaine didn't have a chance to host at least one more time. Last year really was freakish, and now everyone's stereotype of MN weather will be reinforced.
One and done doesn't really seem fair, not having a chance to learn and build on what was done last year. It seems like most, if not all of the issues brought up could have been resolved the second time around.
Now Texas has a chance to show off. We'll see if they can improve on it!
Is the site something that will be rotated around now, a la the Super Bowl of lacrosse?

All I can say is that i am dissapointed that Blaine was not chosen but i do look forward to tearing apart how the weather sucks, nightlife is boring, and how the fields are really far apart and the grass is too long and the media coverage was subpar and it is really far away from collegeville, mn.

I agree. St. Louis got several years of so-so coverage of the event and Blaine does a pretty good job (save for the weather) and gets yanked after 1 year. This is like Tyronne Willingham getting fired from Notre Dame all over again! (ha ha, I cracked myself up with that one...)
Of course, I am sure Dallas will be nice. Sorry to the Johnnies who may need to buck up another $400 each for another trip. Maybe it's time to set up a home and home with the GRLC-B to save some costs?

$400 will probably only get the Johnnies to DFW and possibly rent vans. Better plan on more $$$ unless they're camping out.
Danny - people are resistant to change which I'm sure contributed to some of the negative impressions of last year's tourney. I agree - it wasn't the AB center in STL

Actually he is about right on, a bus to Texas for 7 days would cost around $10,000.00, while hotels for 6 nights would be around $6,000.00. If the team has 40 guys going. thats $16,000 / 40 = $400.00 each.

Yeah. It's a ton cheaper to bus than to fly. It's a 16 hour bus ride from here, but then you have a bus to get you around.
The sticker on flights isn't the flight, it's renting all those vans and finding people to drive them.
