let's spark in a little more interest in the B division.

without having seen what divison b has to offer on a national scale, i still would have to say that the Emory Eagles will have a good shot. They are kind of a wild card every year in the SELC, they have been on a recent downslide, but are capable of getting very solid new talent every year because of the type of student that usually attends Emory (northeastern private schoolers usually). This weekend won't be much of an indication because of the level of talent they will be facing, but a good experience nonetheless.

I think that the PNCLL is going to have an influence on the B div. national tourney this year. With PLU, WWU, and UPS all ranked highly.

i think that the ccla has a very strong chance of bringing home the national championship for division b. they have 3 of the top 20 schools and a few honorable mentions in there too. they will be a tough conference at nationals
champions are made when no one is watching.

The WCLL has 18 A teams and 7 B teams. Of the 7 B teams 3 are ranked in the top 25 (43%). Of the 18 A teams 7 are ranked in the top 25 (39%).
Not too shabby.

I hope our PNCLL does as well as we think it can, but we haven't played anyone else yet....

B Div contender

Postby Sean Lenihan on Thu Jan 27, 2005 9:40 pm

I would watch out for University of San Diego. A few of their players and their head coach did very well in Australia this past summer at the Asia Pacific Games. The all competed with Team California USA.

They should be battled tested in the WCLL too.

Maybe I'm assuming too much, but I think the B division is going to be a lot more competetive top to bottom in the top 25 than the A. Whichever team represent any conference in Blaine, should have a shot at winning. Again, the OOC play is going to be very interesting this year. Maybe next year we can try to have a Westcoast meeting over Spring Break. Try to get the best teams from the WCLL and RMLC to meet somewhere in the middle. What is the first OOC game this year?

I think one of the things that is really good about the Div B teams is that there is alot more differences in teams from year to year, and so there could be darkhorses coming from anywhere in the 80 team field. Also...there are a few Div A teams playing Div B schedules, which will through wrenches in some teams seasons (Boise State, Wyoming). So this should be a good season. I think Ft. Lewis has a good chance along with UVSC who is always strong.....and with alot more OOC games this year, we shall see who will reign supreme. And, Ft. Lewis is playing UTA, so that will be a good game...although sense I played both teams over the fall.....I have Ft. Lewis by about 10 goals.

I agree. I think our national title could end up a lot more like March Madness with anyone winning it all. It seems like the magic of the Division A tournament wears off as soon as a team like UCSB starts smacking around the 16th seed... I hope that does not happen with our event.

Has anyone heard anything about UVSC this year? Also, There were rumors that Tyler Bue from Ft. Lewis went to CSU. Is that true?

I just posted this in the RMLC thread, but here it is again abotu Tyler Bue:

Tyler Bue definitely transferred from Fort Lewis to CSU. I was his roommate on USA West this summer and he was talking about it with Flip and the other CSU guys on our team, but I didn't think he'd actually do it.

He definitely did because we played CSU in Vegas this fall and he was definitely out there on the field and we talked after the game. Flip switched him to middie to work on his feetwork, but he'll probably see some time this year at either middie or attack.
