Consolation Games Coverage on CollegeLAX

As a heads up for players, parents, and fans from around the country.....

Unlike past tournaments, the CollegeLAX online coverage of all '08 consolation bracket games will be sharply curtailed this season. This was based on input from the MCLA Executive Board.

We will not be providing any real-time scoring updates from these consolation bracket games. Most likely someone from the tournament staff will pop into the LAGR forum to provide very brief updates at quarter/halftime breaks. But do not expect goal by goal, game tracker results or game recap articles from these relatively meaningless contests.

After teams lose in Dallas, most of the time their overall focus changes. Many teams do not take the games very seriously, starting seniors and rookies that have not played much all season long. Too many lacrosse fans were reading into these results incorrectly and demanding instantaneous online results. The tournament resources will be directed toward the teams progressing toward the two championship games.

The event continues to evolve in it's 12th consecutive year. The highest priority and media attention will be given to the winner's bracket games. We have plenty of photographers, writers, and statisticians ready to report on those games. We are also continuing to solicit "off the field" story ideas from all 28 tournament teams for both TV and print. Drop us a line if you have an idea.

If you can't make it to Dallas.... We hope you make plans to join us online starting next Tuesday afternoon for what should be the most exciting MCLA tournament in the MCLA/MDIA/USL MDIA/USLIA/USILA's brief history. :)

Spread the word!

Two D2 Quarterfinals start at 1pm.

Follow the LAGR forum for periodic updates of the consolation games. Key word being periodic.

Just to show my support for this idea, I think it is very smart. It protects the UC-Irvine's of the world who don't want their consolation blowouts plastered on the front page. If a team is aware that they aren't the elite of the elite, and are attempting to grow and build new players, then this is a great way to let them play more lacrosse without jabbing them in the ribs again if they lose.

In the end, it flat out doesn't matter to anyone who wins or loses the consolation games, they should simply be applauded for making the national tournament. I think this was the idea.
