In Division I, teams with losing records are not eligible for the NCAA playoffs unless they win their league.

Please try to tell me with a straight face that using a computer to determine rankings would stop the complaining.

Not true. The NCAA has a committee that determines at-large tournament bids and overall tournament seeding. They use a lot of data, including some computer generated data, but it still comes down to personal decisions. It is very hotly contested (anyone remember the undefeated Bucknell team that did not make the D1 tournament a few years ago?).

The only college selection process that uses a formula to determine bids that I know of is the BCS - which is not an NCAA entity. Of course the BCS never generates any controversy.

JP, Jumbo Here and I am here to say that you are a clever son of a gun. That witty jest at the BCS was gold. How do you come up with it?

You know what...I know...You have no idea where you came up with that...do you?!? Right? It just popped into your head. You know why...cuz you're a genius. A lax genius. A lax genius from Michigan. Do you know what Michigan is? The first line of defense from the Canadians.

If I were selecting a lax team to go to the Tourney, I would select the almighty Lax stangs of the UUUUUUUUUU.

And what do you think the odds are that Utah is not only going to upset BYU whom they have never beat and then turn around and beat the winner of the CSU v. CU game? Both who soundly whipped them in season play. Don't bet the farm on it.
