You should probably put FSU in that category also.

Will you get over this"SELC hate" thing? It has nothing to do with that. Those 3 teams have virtually no chance to beat the opponents they are matched up against. PERIOD. It has nothing to do with what conference they are from.

I'm not saying they will, but bigger upsets have happened in the world of sports. On any given Sunday...

I like how many are calling for a #11 over #6 upset. But mention a #10 upsetting a #7 and people respond like you just picked #16 Lindenwood to win it all...

I will say it again........very slowly and in big letters so the hate/conspiracy theorists can understand...........IT HAS TO DO WITH WHO THE TEAMS IN THE MATCHUP ARE. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CONFERENCE OR THE SEEDING NUMBER. :!:

VT, FSU, & FL are no match for their opponents, for various reasons. UCSB has a chance to upset ASU, since they will be back to full strength and ASU may possibly be missing their leading scorer. It's not brain surgery to figure out who has the best chance for upset amongst those teams.

If you guys are focused on the SELC, the only team who has a chance to advance is Georgia. I think they are evenly matched with SSU and it should be a close game.

Im not predicting any upsets. I think for all the parity talk this year there will be surprisingly few (if any) upsets in the first round. However, I will stop well short of saying many of the teams have no chance. If Colorado St can lose to Utah this year, they can certainly lose to Va Tech. Id almost have more faith in them then a team that is 2-5 in their last 7, and is playing a team theyve lost to twice already. (I don't know what constitutes UCSB being at full strength, Ill take your word for it).

My only point is anything can happen, and bigger upsets have happened before...

Nick Nyeholt & Jack Miller, top midfielders for UCSB, did not make the trip to ASU in the WCLL quarters due to illness. They should be back and ready to go in Dallas. Tyler Westfall, top scorer for ASU at 5.46 pts per game, was injured in the WCLL playoffs and possibly may not be ready for the UCSB game. Those 2 things could tilt the balance slightly for those 2 teams.

I know this has been brought up before, but why not give a post-season poll including the consolation games. This would make the games more competetive/fun to watch since the first preseason poll is semi-based off of the last poll from the season.

I have to say I see the SELC going 0-4 in the opening round. Those matchups just don't work in their favor.

It's not that I hate the SELC, I just don't think they're very good. Sure they can put up some numbers during the season, but that run and gun style just wont cut it in the post season against well balanced teams. This is also why I think UCSB will take down ASU.

Did someone say HAT TRICK.

If you speak to anyone from U.C. San Diego from 2 years ago they might tell you how hard it is to beat a team 3 times in a season. I'd be upset if I were you for getting such a motivated opponent with way more tournament experience than ASU has.

I see the entire 9-16 going 0-8. And if 17-20 switched with 9-12 or 13-16 I'd see them losing all in either position as well. UCSB might have the only advantage which is not conference based, but due to the fact they are facing a team they faced 2 times prior.

If a lower ranked SELC team was facing a higher ranked SELC team for the 3rd time, I'd make an exception for the lower as well. It's not conference, or play, it's just repitition that factors here.

I do believe there was alot of parity in the league for several weeks, and if the tourney was played in March I'd suggest several upsets. But right now I think the parity at the top has evaporated...

(but parity in the 12-20 still exists and is a future issue --always on my soapbox!)
