CSU v. UCSB

The 2013 tournament returns to Greenville, SC this May.

CSU v. UCSB

Postby Bluevelvet on Sun Feb 13, 2005 5:59 pm

So far both CSU and UCSB have played 4 games. Both teams are 4-0 and look like the class of the MDIA again.
UCSB outscored their opponents 50-10. CSU outscored their opponents 86-18. Each team is close to scoring 5 times as many goals as their opponents.
CSU averaged 21.5 goals per game. UCSB averaged 12.5.
UCSB gave up 2.5 goals per game. CSU gave up 4.5.
The unstoppable force meets the immovable object on March 12 at the Home Depot Center in LA.

doesn't mean a thing. Both these guys will meet up in the final and CSU takes it (only because it's an odd year). These guys right now are evenly matched-you could FLIP a coin (sorry I had to). Anyway I see CSU slipping up and getting upset somewhere down the line-maybe CU, but like Utah a couple of years ago-it fires them up and they finish strong. UCSB, I could really see them almost running the table, maybe just a loss to CSU at HDC. These two are just too close right now. A title game rematch would be nice. On paper-doesn't look like anyone's close to them, but hey-that's why you play.

While CSU has stellar senior class, UCSB more seniors. I anticapte that maturity will give CSU a hard time during the regular season. However, after a season of play, CSU won't be a young team anymore. Farquhar and Harper will be aided by Pat Bird, should be first team AA this year, transfers Shay Cunningham and Tyler Bue. CSU will be champions this year because of the ever other year rule and next year because of Bue Bird Cunningham Danny Stevens and a returning defense.

The lax, I'm just curious, but have you actually ever seen either CSU or UCSB play? If so, when & where?

Hard to believe that "the lax" has applied to be an "impartial" MDIA pollster, isn't it?

Impartial, oh please. Everyone has their favorite teams. I like UCSB because they are from Cali and are my high school teams colors. I like CSU because one of my best friends goes there.

Do you fellows not consider what I predict to be worthwhile? I don't understand why I should be attacked. I made a very educated prediction.

No one is attacking you. I just asked a very simple question which still hasn't been answered.

Oh I have last years final on tape. I played against Michigan last year. Saw Pittsburgh scrimmage this fall. Assuming I don't have NCAA playoffs, I'll be going to cheer on my friends in Blaine. Sorry for the delay.

Who do/did you play for? Was it an MDIA team or do/did you play varsity?

As a player for a varsity team, is it safe to say that you probably haven't had the chance to see a lot of the Top 25 of the MDIA teams in person? I would assume that your practice & game schedule probably wouldn't allow that.

The Lax,

Very interesting. Michigan didn't play any varsity teams last year according to their schedule, so either you're lying or there is a game missing from last year's results or you scrimmaged them.

As of this weekend...I would pick UCSB over CSU. A solid UCSB defense could probably slow down CSU enough to get past them. I know it was the first few games of the season, but it seemed to me that CSU is a little weaker on defense than in years past.

With the exception of Plonkey, CSU returned their defense including goalie.
