interesting to see two of the highest scoring offenses in the country, ASU and CHAPMAN, ranked #2 and #6, both in the final four of the tournament, have a combined total of 5 players on the list (2 from Chapman and 3 from ASU), which is equal to the number that the lower ranked Sonoma State has on the list. Not to mention the WCLL, with 8 teams in the top 25, has only 12 players total (The PCLL, with one team in the top 25 has 8 players, or 2/3 of the entire WCLL).

I know I am a homer here but are you serious, Moriarty HM? Best goalie in the league hands down. All-American's are the best players in the country not players from the best teams in the country. Most of the time it works that way, but come on are you serious?

Process is pretty straightforward.

To be eligible, a player must be a member of his respective conference’s All Conference Team or a Conference Player of the Year. This puts pressure on conferences to do a better job of selecting the best players for their post season award teams. This is probably the point at which the current process has the greatest failure.

Player nomination forms must be completed by the head coach. This includes stats, previous awards (national & conference), and coach’s comments - particularly useful for defensemen and other non-glamour positions. It’s important for a coach to demonstrate that he believes his player is worthy of nomination. Many coaches do not do an adequate job of this.

Conference Directors, are also asked to include input comments as a more neutral evaluator. In addition conference directors are asked to place their conference’s nominees in rank order.

Applications consisting of a name only, or missing comments were not considered. I always asked directors to get incompletes filled out once before dicarding them.

Ballots were submitted to the MCLA Secretary, tallied, and All America teams defined. Voters included conference directors, presidents, divisional VPs, and the executive board (excluding myself).

I was asked this year by the Board of Directors to have the balloting completed so that the teams could be announced at the National tournament. Last year, the ballots were due after the tournament and which allowed a lot of the voters a chance to see these players compete (often head to head) and make evaluation. This may be a weakness of this year's results.

Probably due to the small schedule the Buffs played this year. Not a lot of voters got to see him.

The thing that surprised me about the CU goalie being on the AA HM was that he was the 1st team RMLC and BYU's goalie was 2nd team in the RMLC and is on the 3rd team AA. I'm guessing it has something to do with BYU getting to the Nat'l tourney? Don't you have to be on the 1st team of your conference to even be eligible for AA?
