Weather like that once every 70 years is a fluke, not such a bad thing. Even the locals were freaking out... actually quite ashamed.

I don't think the weather will be a huge factor again. I do think that USL is simply looking for a venue that has more of a 'championship-friendly' environment... fields closer together, larger crowds, more vendors, etc. I think that's something that Blaine lacked. Either way, they'll make the best decision.

USL controlled the placement of the fields (or at least the splitting of the championship/consolation sides of the MD and WD tourneys). USL also has contracts with and thus controls the number of vendors at the tourney. Having all the championship games in the afternoon was supposed to encourage better attendance, but was offset by the weather conditions.

I'd be interested in seeing if better weather would improve peoples' opinions of the event in Minnesota. Probably not going to happen though.

What I meant by that, was a venue with fields that are closer together. I can't remember what they were named in Minnesota, but an entire venue like the areas used in the first 2 days for the men's opening round at Blaine. I think Blaine got a bad wrap because of the weather, but I do think USL is looking for a little more. I think the general preception of Blaine was negative to many people going into the tournament, and things like the ridiculous weather didn't help things when they got there. Either way, I think next year will be a huge advancement from last year, no matter where the tournament is held.

Should be soon. I believe some of the USL and MDIA staff made a site visit to Dallas last weekend. I imagine we will hear something by the end of the month, but don't quote me on that.

I think after this year the USLIA Exec's should set up a rotation between St. Louis, Blaine, and Frisco. These are all pretty centrally located and everyone will have to travel at least once every three years.
