They don't want to waste time on traveling and playing "meaningless" games. No one will come and and say it, but that is the truth. When you only have to play 3 conference games, and usually they are all top 25 games, your strength of schedule is going to look really nice, then you can just schedule whoever else you want, ie CU this year. I mean it is a great idea when it works, but can backfire, ie CU this year. Hopefully next year when we have set guidelines on what designates a DI and DII there won't be an issue and all conferences will have a AQ.
DI RMLC is borderline independent.

I could not agree less with this statement. Having "bad" teams play down to Division 2 and "good" teams play up only perpetuates the idea that DII is an inferior division, an idea that I believe the MCLA is trying to stop. The advent of a split based solely on school size with no possibiliy of teams playing down for next season should completely eliminate these ideas that DII is inferior. The only true difference should be in school size, which will naturally affect overall competetiveness. If we want to continue to be accepted as a virtual varsity league then we cannot just allow teams to move up or down from season to season depending on what kind of talent they have. That just seems obvious to me.
P.S. it has been DI and DII for quite a while now, not A and B
The true test of a player's character is not how he wins, but how he loses.

champ seeding
I am curious as to how the MCLA determines the seeding for the DII tournament. Are automatic qualifiers given seeding priority or does the MCLA top 25 poll determine the seeding, or is there possibly a selection committee?

Seeding for D1 and D2 is based on the positions in the final MCLA poll that will be posted here on, I believe May 5th.

wait...what?
the RMLC kicked BSU out?
Please elaborate.

I don't think they were kicked out, but they were most certainly encouraged to leave. They were relegated to D2 because as was previously written, they were a very long drive for a non-competitive game for some of the D1 teams. One coach who keeps a blog had a few entries dealing with this. I agree wholeheartedly that the RMLC D1 is as close to a group of independents as you can get. But then again, what can be done? Do you force up Ft lewis, Westminster, or others? In D2, they are a shoe in for Nationals. In D1, they are nowhere near a playoff team. Those teams are probably 5-8 years away from being able to make a jump like that.
