Claremont College, a member of the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League and the MCLA is seeking an Associate Head Coach. Current Head Coach, Pete Ginnegar has announced his retirement from coaching effective the end of the 2009 season, and the understanding is that the person who is hired as the Associate Head Coach will assume the Head Coaching responsibilities at the conclusion of the 2009 season.
Over the past four seasons, Claremont Lacrosse has achieved great success as both a MCLA Division II national power, and most recently as an MCLA Division I program for the past two seasons, gaining national rankings in its first two seasons in MCLA Division I. This past season, Claremont Lacrosse was ranked as high as #17, before finishing at #18 in the final MCLA National Poll. This season, the "Cougars" compiled an overall record of 12-4 and a two year Division I record of 23-8. Claremont plays in the powerful Los Angeles Division of the WCLL, arguably the toughest division top to bottom in the MCLA. Schools in Chapman University, UC Santa Barbara, Loyola Marymount Univ., UCLA and USC.
The team plays both fall and spring lacrosse, and usually practices on average about 4 days per week, plus games on the weekend. Fall Ball usually runs from mid Sept. to early november, and pre-season practice in the spring starts in mid-January.
Qualifications for the position should include previous head or assistant coaching experience at either an NCAA Varsity or an established MCLA program.
Claremont is located approx. 36 mile east of Los Angeles, near Ontario, CA.
Salary is negotiable, the contract will run from September-May.
